Why The Metro Breaks Down When It Snows

February 7th, 2009 · 3 Comments

I just found out one of the reasons that the metro stops working  when it snows (which has always been a mystery since you would think that Norway, of all places, is prepared for heavy snowfall).  One of the reasons is because the new trains that they have here in Oslo were made and purchased from Italy. So they were not designed to run in the snow (like we get here in Norway).

So that’s one excuse, what are the other excuse Oslo has for falling apart when it snows? :) Anyone know? I would love to hear what you think.

I do agree: kind of ironic :-)

Other reasons?: We’re out of practice since less snow the last years and also this last day’s we’ve had very much snow in a short time.

Ive lived in Oslo for all my 24 years now, and it never, ever fails. Each winter, at the first fall of snow, everything seems to be going to a complete halt…it’s nothing new:)

“Snow on the transformers”, I would expect to be an excuse. I live on the west coast, and whenever our power goes out, there’s “salt/snow/ice/??? on the transformers”.
