Shopping In Norway

September 17th, 2007 · 1 Comment

There are many surprises living in a new country and there is something that they do in Norway that I find very strange. When you go shopping at any store (grocery store, 7 eleven etc.) no matter what you buy, if you want a bag you have to pay extra. It is never included when you purchase something. Even if you go to the grocery store and buy a ton of stuff you pay extra for any bags you want.

So if your ever visiting Norway, remember, if you buy something at the store and are waiting for them to put your purchase in a bag and give it to you, you could be waiting there quite a while. It always costs extra!

The Ikea here in Carson is starting to charge $0.05 for their bags. I almost wonder if I can return it for a refund. Seems so odd to charge for bags, but it does help to reduce waste. Didn’t know you were in Norway! I look forward to hearing about your many adventures. Sigh…makes me want to travel, but I’m too tied down to my life here.
