For more info on getting a visa, work permits and information on residence permit in Norway the website that you can get information from is UDI.no. This site has a really good information on immigration to Norway. If you go to the site, there is a choice on the right hand side of languages so you can read it in English.
I found that it was more helpful for me to actually go to the UDI office in Oslo, Norway. If you’ve not left for Oslo yet and you’re still packing and sat at the PC staring at Fly.com (http://www.fly.com/), make a note of this location - it’s crucial to help ease you into making yourself a new home here in Norway. So if you are in Norway you can just go to the office and the people are really helpful.
I know that some of you have asked for more information on things like this and as I learn more I will continue to share it with you.

Hi Beulah,
As a matter of interest, why would you like to work as a kindergarten teacher if you’re a qualified dentist? Which country did you qualify from? Is it within the EU or outside?
You would do very well even if you wanted to work as an assistant as the wages are very good.
Denmark would be an excellent option if you
so wish.
Look forward to your response.

My wife and I are retirees, in our early 70s. We live in Canada, although we were both born in the U.S; we are dual (Canadian/U.S.) citizens.
I am perticularly good at languages, with, in addition to my native English, fluent French, some Spanish and German and a smattering of Basque and Finnish.
We have a modest but secure income from government pensions (Canadian Pension and Old Age Security and U.S. Social Security). What are our chances of being able to retire to Norway?

I am not writing this message not only to the people of Norway, but also to all westerners.
Norway, the land of prosperity, is also part of our planet. Norwegians are also humans like the ones in Africa.
The world is a stage of inequality and injustice. It honours one and dishonors the other. But there is one central reality that all human beings share regardless of where one is born:” humanity”. When God looks down to the world of human races, He only sees humanity but not prosperity and civilization.
Every single minute for many Africans is a moment of groaning. The horrible darkness of poverty and hunger has swallowed the people. Yes, Africa is the horrible world of human beings that are exactly identical, except color, to the Norwegians.
Children in Africa were born to suffer. They are meant to eat not ice-cream, but worms. Thy wear not clothes, but nothing. Yes, they are children just like the ones Norway.
The continent is the port of backwardness and illiteracy. The people are only toys to be toured by the westerners. Yes, we are the modern miracles in the eyes yours.
The point is who is responsible for this great sin of ignorance during the judgment day when the owner of the whole world, GOD, comes to take what belongs to Him? Now is the time for you to turn your eyes to Africa. Yes, now is the time for you to bring the stammering child of the Dark Continent to light. Now is the time for you to show us that you have a sense of humanity. If you are not willing to turn your face to these needy souls, history will judge you at the end of the day.
