I think you should pass this on to a standardization comity or initialize a harmonization in one way or another.
It’s always a challenge when I talk to my wifes family in US; about the weather, the price of gas and everything. Well when I tell them about the gas price, they won’t believe me anyway LoL

Google will do all kinds of conversions for you if you know how. For instance:
15 pounds in kilograms gives this result:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=15+pounds+in+kilograms
It also does currencies:
