Homesick? I have found a deal for you!

October 17th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Last night I was talking to my mom and being here in Norway its always nice to talk to someone from home. But its so expensive to call internationally. And not only is it usually expensive, international phone cards are usually a hassle (at least in my opinion) to try and find the best calling rates on.

Well I have found a special deal for my blog readers. :) Is a global brand of virtual calling cards that have super low rates. Its prepaid calling cards by Pingo.

There are many benefits to using Pingos international calling cards - but I will get to that in a minute. Let me tell you first about the free stuff!

If you sign up for Pingo through my blog, you will get $8.00 worth of free calls. Plus just for signing up with Pingo you will also get five hours of international calls for free. And if that wasent enough to have stopped reading this and alreay gone to their website…there is one more thing for my readers. A special phone card blog discount coupon: “ppp3” valid for $3 off Pingo.

That means that a $25.00 calling card will only cost you $17.00. I think it sounds like a good deal, don’t you?

Okay now lets talk about the benefits (besides the low costs). They have no surprises. What do I mean by that? I mean no hidden fees. I think this is a wonderful benefit because I had some issues recently trying to buy a phone card that had hidden fees and ended up being a waste of money.

Before I moved out here to Norway, I was wanting to call my friend who lives here. So I bought a calling card that seemed to be the best deal. But then when I used it, it called the phone and when he answered then the minutes were up immediately. It was terrible! I found out later that it was because of some kind of hidden fees that I was not told about up front. So I absolutely can say that a calling card with no hidden fees is a wonderful thing!

Pingo has low rates and hassle free international calling for those expats like me who get a little homesick from time to time!

I talk to folks in the US on almost a daily basis. If you have a good internet connection, download Skype and buy a headset. If the person you want to talk to also has Skype, it’s free. If you want to call a landline or cell, it’s two cents per minute (from Estonia, anyway). If they want to call you from a landline or cell, you can get a Skype number (a real US phone number) that simply forwards to your computer. That costs around $30 a year for you, and doesn’t cost any more than a local or domestic call usually would for them.

I use Skype to stay in touch on a regular basis with friends and family, and for calls with clients in other countries. It really does rock!
