In the spirit of making my blog more diverse in topics and places…I will be sharing a few new sites and blogs with all of my wonderful readers out there in cyber-land that will hopefully do just that. Today I will start with a great blog called “Europe A La Carte“. The author Karen Bryan offers to “See more of Europe by getting off of the beaten track”.
So, a little about Karen….She is a Scottish-born woman (and proud :) and had lived there most of her life. Now she has moved to England…only three miles from the Scotland’s boarder! :)
And a little about the blog….Her blog is full of interesting information no matter where in Europe you want to travel. Her idea is that as a tourist you will find you have a much more fulfilling vacation if you get off of the “well worn tourist circuit”. She also has a travel business by the same name as well (so I’m sure you could contact her for more info if you wanted to!).
Karen says that she thinks shes a little biased towards Scotland, I like to think of it as its more like shes an expert about Scotland. Like for example in her post “The Banffshire Coast-The neglected north?” she says that the local tourist board is calling the area “Scotland’s best kept secret” where she believes its more “the neglected north”. She shares so many awesome tips and has really great descriptions from a “real” perspective. Not someone who is trying to sell you something. She also has so many amazing pictures, that its makes it even more fun to dream about where I want to go next (although since I just moved to Norway, its still a little like a vacation here!).
She has everything from food and restaurant reviews like in her post “Restaurant Review - Spaghetti Italian Buffet Restaurant, Edinburgh” to tips and advice for anything travel related like travel insurance and information about airlines.
I think its fun to learn new facts. Have you ever heard of a “Babymoon“? I thought it was a typo or something when I first read it because I never heard of something like that. Karen teaches us about babymoon’s where expectant parents take a vacation before the baby is born as a last chance to get away before the baby comes along. So funny!
Anyways, check it out. She has a wide variety of topics and places in Europe for everyone. I really enjoy reading her blog. :)
