I have to let you all know, that tragically I was mistaken when I thought I could watch my beloved tv show Big Brother over the internet here in Norway. In a previous post (before I left home) I wrote that many American TV stations have websites where you can watch most of the popular tv shows online.
Well, I was in for a huge disappointment to find that when my computer was connected to the internet in Norway, as opposed to the states, that on almost all of the networks websites, I was unable to watch any of the shows (but of course you can view the commercials no problem). I was very disappointed and am so sad that I am unable to watch the end of the season of Big Brother. Oh well, life goes on…
What I have found though, since I’ve been here in Norway, that most of the basic TV channels that they have here show American programs (and some British but mostly American). But not shows that are current…by any stretch of the imagination. For example, when I turned on the TV last night there was an American show on and it looked SO familiar, and I realized it was Dawsons Creek. It was really funny to see that show on.
They show Married With Children alot (what a way to represent American culture to the world, isn’t it?). I’ve seen Seinfield and a few others I cant remember at the moment. They also show an American movie every weeknight at 10PM, which is cool.
The other channels they have are MTV (of course) - but I’ve only seen music videos on it, none of the shows. One of the channels is a travel channel in English, CNN, BBC and the National Geographic channel. Thats in addition to the handful of channels in Norwegian.
Overall, I am quite surprised at the variety of American (even if it is old) TV that is on regular channels here in Oslo.
I guess at least I have something to mend my broken heart from missing the end of my season of Big Brother :)
