All That Glitters

August 9th, 2008 · No Comments

Well, you know how the saying goes! This was the first thing that came to my mind when I read an article on msnbc.com about the company freecreditreport.com. They talk about how that company (who claims to help protect you from identity theft) has hired an actor to play the “real” guy who is drowning in his pile of credit woes.

I do not really know about you, but as far as I am concerned, I am a little bit offended that a company that claims to be protecting my identity is lying about the person they are presenting to me as a ‘real’ person. I can get over that one though. It is this next one that bothers me a little more.

Well, as you know the website is called FREEcreditreports.com. But guess what? I bet you had no idea that if you ordered a credit report from this lovely website that you would quickly find out that the report is not actually FREE! Do they sound like liars to you or what?

In another article I read by Bob Sullivan and he said that the company had already gotten a ’slap on the wrist’ by the FTC for being misleading to customers. But they haven’t seemed to change much since then!

Anyways, if you want someone more reliable for identity theft problems check out the company lifelock.
