If you take a minute to scan down through all the posts on my blog for -oh, lets say- the past month….you will see about every other post is me complaining about how I am waiting for/wanting the snow to come here in Oslo, Norway. And how it hasn’t come and I have been getting upset with that (more like a little disappointed). Because where I am from in California it does not snow, ever. It barley gets very cold. So I have been (understandably - I think) anxious for the snow to come.
Well, one of my fellow bloggers Lothiane who also lives here in Oslo, Norway (check out her website Oslo Daily Photo - and while your stopping by you can vote for her website as “best photoblog” - just click here and scroll down the post where it says to vote for that blog) gave me the reality of the winter here in Oslo, plain and clear. And I thought it was nice to have someone tell me how it is, and what to expect.
This is what she says,
“Sorry to disappoint you, but this is what Oslo-winters are all about:
It rains
It gets colder
It snows
It gets warmer
The snow melts
It gets colder
The water turns to ice
Old people fall over and break the hip/neck of the femur and end up in hospital
And then sometime in January/February we get snow. At this point everyone’s fed up of winter and dreams of springtime and noone wants the *%&¤* snow anyway… but we’ll probably get a ton of it, it’ll heap up and Mesta (the road administration) gets yelled at for not getting the snow away in time. Everyone’s stressed out, the traffic is a nightmare, people slid off the road and into ditches - or into other cars. The underground is greatly delayed, the buses can’t get through, everyone’s late for work and the people in Finnmark (furthest north) mocks the inhabitants of Oslo for not knowing how to handle real winter.
:)”
Well, I guess I’ll just have to wait for my snow to come. At least now I wont wake up every morning like a little kid thinking, “is it snowing? is it snowing??” And run to the windows to see if it snowed, only to be disappointed by a very thin layer of frost. Now I know. Thanks Lothiane!
So now whats next? Is someone going to say there’s no Santa clause either? Just kidding! :) I still love the weather, I guess its just a little greedy wanting more :)

Haha, so happy to help you out. ;) Glad you could see the humour in this.
You might get snow one of these days… What is always exciting is to see if we get snow for Christmas Eve. At least this year it’s probable that we get cold weather and the frost… And not rain as we have had some xmases. *pout*
A very merry Christmas to you, Kristie! Thanks for linking and asking people to vote too! :)

Rain, snow, rain, ice. Sounds a lot like Ohio.
